Mark Birkett, Chief Executive

Mark began his career in Insurance with a Lloyd's Underwriting Syndicate. After four years in underwriting, he moved into Reinsurance Broking. In over twenty years in the London Market, Mark has gained experience in many classes of business including, Marine, Aviation, Bloodstock and Property.

He has established a varied and stable client base and in 2000 he founded International Risk Solutions.

Stephen Thomas, Director ACII

Stephen Thomas began his career in marine insurance in 1961 when he joined Alliance Assurance.

Following one year with National Employers Mutual in 1965 he joined the London branch of Insurance Company of North America in 1966, In 1978 he left the company marine market to establish Lloyd's managing agency Mander Thomas & Cooper (Underwriting Agencies) Ltd and was appointed Deputy Underwriter of Lloyd's Syndicate 552, He was appointed Active Underwriter of Syndicate 1023 in 1991 and ultimately Active Underwriter of Syndicate 1221 the successor to both 552 and 1023 in 1996 following their merger.

He was a member of Lloyd's from 1983 to 1999 and appointed a director of Mander Thomas & Cooper in 1984.

Patrick Greene, Finance Director and Compliance Officer

Pat is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland with over 20 years experience, mostly in senior financial roles across insurance and UK listed companies. He has spent almost 10 years in insurance, rising to Group Financial Controller of Aon UK and having extensive involvement in the Aon acquisition programme of the late 1990’s.

Stuart Lilley, Head of Broking

Stuart has been in the Insurance market for over 10 years, beginning his career in the claims department of a Lloyd’s syndicate. After three years he moved into broking and gained vast experience in both the direct insurance and reinsurance markets dealing with facultative to proportional treaty accounts. Stuart deals with many different classes of business including Marine, Property, Motor, Fine Art and War risks. As head of the Broking Department, Stuart ensures the bespoke and personal service we strive for is upheld throughout the company.

John Murphy

John has been working in the London Bloodstock Insurance Market for the past 9 years. During that time he has built up numerous contacts throughout the World, and has a depth of knowledge of the thoroughbred industry. He is greatly experienced in adapting policies and placing risks to suit the individual client's requirements.
